Why Game Development?

Games have always been a passion of mine. Since my early days of playing, I have been fascinated by how they work and games such as Minecraft and Halo Custom Edition provided the ability to install various mods, to tailor my gameplay experience for my own needs. This ability to modify my gameplay experience left me wanting to create my own games.

Towards the end of secondary school, I downloaded the Unity game engine and started my game development journey. Using online forums and following guides by YouTubers such as Brackeys, I taught myself game development, so that I could develop my first game, a multiplayer FPS game called "Operation Potato Restaurant." Although the silly name, bad graphics and terrible programming practices, it was functional enough for me and my friends to enjoy. This project was pivotal for me, as it provided hands-on learning and propelled me to dive deeper into game development and coding.

What Motivates Me?

Innovation and problem-solving are my driving forces. I'm constantly seeking ways to simplify, fix, and enhance everything around me. Whether it's writing code to automate tasks or tackling real-world challenges, I thrive on complexity. For instance, weapon icon creation for the loadout menu in "Wheels of Duty" wasted lots of my time, so instead I developed a system to automate the process, to save myself valuable time.

Beyond computers, I also enjoy the complexities of repair, this has led me from fixing simple tools and devices to fixing motorbikes and engines. Working with these real-world problems has also led me to venture into 3D printing, allowing me to bring my designs to life and fix my real-world problems. For instance, I created cupholders for my car and also printed my own VR gun stocks for the Oculus Cv1, which I sold on eBay for a profit whilst at college.
